Youth lacrosse has finally made its way to the island of Bermuda. A weekend pilot programme started four weeks ago at the Bermuda College has steadily grown from one individual practicing with the men's national team to 11 young boys aged 9-13 years old participating in youth-only clinics taught by national team members.

A youth programme will be rolled out to local schools over the winter and spring terms and it is expected that up to 80 children will take part in the first year programme.

In addition to focusing on the youth programme Bermuda Lacrosse has undertaken a number of projects designed to increase global awareness of the island as a destination for this fast growing sport.

A 30-minute documentary is currently in production.  This short film will showcase the rise of lacrosse on the island and document the growth of the programme from a weekend beer league to a top 10 finish in the 2008 U19 World Championships.  The trailer can be viewed at BermudaLacrosse.com

The annual Tri Nations tournament will be held in November prior to U.S. Thanksgiving.  This event will be expanded to include the newly formed women's lacrosse teams as well as a free skills clinic for youth.
