SHAWNETTE SOMNER

Giving is priceless

Shawnette Somner: It’s difficult for most of us to fathom the amount of funding necessary to support programmes that enhance the personal growth and development particularly for our youth.

Hispanic residents display a warm sense of community

Shawnette Somner: It was clearly evident from the Celebremos de dia de la Hispanidad event that those who are residing on our shores are a tight knit community. They seem to love each other and look out for each other.

The power of music

Shawnette Somner: We should encourage our young people to become exposed to music and to play an instrument from a young age.

Savour the time with your family

Shawnette Somner: There’s a feeling in the air and although I’m not quite sure what it is, I must admit that for now. I’m enjoying it.

What have you learned from the past year?

Shawnette Somner: It always amazes me how the end of a year causes us to reflect upon all the things that have happened and forces us to make decisions on how we might choose to do things differently in the upcoming year.
