JD Power and Associates have handed out its 2014 Airline Satisfaction Ratings with two of the carriers cleaning up.

JetBlue Airways won for Best Low Cost Airline and Best Low Cost Airline Segment while Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air took those two tiles for traditional carriers.

JetBlue barely beat out Southwest airlines, which is in the process of merging with AirTran.

United Airlines fared the worst among the traditional carriers with US Airways barely above them.

Air travel

You might want to think of booking your summer vacation flights if you have not done so already. Airlines for America, the trade organization for the US airlines, is predicting that the summer of 2014 will be the busiest in six years — or pre-US recession days. It is expecting the amount of air travellers to increase by 1.5 per cent — that’s roughly 33,000 extra passengers per day.

Best Western

The hotel has brought back its earn one night free promotion. Between now and September 1, whenever you stay three times at participating Best Western hotels, you will earn a voucher for one night which is good for any Best Western in the US, Canada or the Caribbean.

Disney

The ‘Happiest Place on Earth’ will be a little less friendly to your wallet.

On Sunday, Disneyland (California) raised prices on all ticket packages. A one-day ticket will now go for $98. The same ticket at Disney World is $99 (they raised ticket prices back in February).

A one-day ticket at Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Disney’s Animal Kingdowm is $94.

Quantum

For those people looking for an exotic trip, a 53-night vacation on Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas might be the ticket — if you have the time and the money.

Quantum debuts this November in New Jersey but in May it will begin its repositioning to China.

You could book a slice of the trip too, so it’s not an all or nothing proposition.

It will leave New Jersey on May 2 for an 11-night transatlantic crossing with a stop in the Azores before completing its journey in Spain.

The next leg is 16-night from Barcelona to Dubai and will pass through the Suez Canal with additional stops in Rome, Naples and Athens, among others.

The third leg is a 14-night Southeast Asia journey with it putting into port in Muscat, Oman, Penang, Malaysia and Singapore.

A brief three-night Malaysia sailing before it finishes up with a nine-night Asia with calls into Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, Xiamen and Singapore.

Norwegian

Guests on Norwegian Cruise Line can now book dinner reservations 90 days in advance instead of 45 days. Guests in the Haven or any suite, can book 100 days in advance.
