Organ duet Four Hands Four Feet have given recitals all over the world and now they are bringing their talents to Bermuda.

The duo is made up of Max Kenworthy, Assistant Director of Music and College Organist at Ardingly College, and Nicolas Grigsby, New Zealand concert organist, academic, broadcaster and music critic.

Kenworthy and Grigsby played their first organ duet recital together at Wellington Cathedral in New Zealand in May, 2004. Among the many venues they have performed in are the Melbourne Town Hall, The Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Lincoln Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and the Basillica of the National Shrine in Washington DC.

Chart toppers

They launched a CD in 2007, Four Hands Four Feet, which topped the Radio New Zealand Classical Chart Top Ten for six weeks and has featured on the BBC’s Organist Entertains programme.

Born in Huddersfield, England, Max Kenworthy has performed recitals all over the world and has undertaken recordings, broadcasts and tours in organ, piano, singing and conducting.

He has worked with numerous ensembles and choral groups in the UK and his organ teachers have included Roger Sayer, David Goode, Jeremy Filsell and Colin Walsh.

Broadcaster

Grigsby has, since 2004, been a regular broadcaster on the New Zealand national radio network Concert, presenting programmes such as the musicology-based Composer of the Week, the music review magazine Pressing On, and the interview programme, Appointment

He has also been broadcast as a solo organist by Radio New Zealand, the BBC in the UK, and also in the United States.

He regularly performs at the international festivals of organ music, most recently in New Zealand, Australia, Asia-Pacific, France, Germany, US, and the UK.

They perform at St Paul’s Church, Paget, tonight at 8pm as part of the Bermuda Festival of the Performing Arts. Tickets can be purchased from bdatix.bm for $65 for adults and $25 for students.
