Marlins’ reel back Barracuda

Marlins rebounded from a 3-1 defeat to Barracuda two weeks ago by defeating their rivals 3-1 last week.

Marlins, the league leaders, used a league high team handicap series of 2,390. Barracuda also bowled well as they had the third highest series with a 2,318.

Snappers blew a chance to gain on Marlins as they lost 3-1 to Wahoo.

Other scores saw Mackerel take the sting out of Jellyfish 3-1, Porgies flushed Goldfish 4-0, and Piranhas, Dolphins and Hinds all picking up three points against Cow Pollies, Tuna and Orca respectively.

Joshua Bento had the hot hand with a 229 scratch game, which he used to build a 710 handicap series. Vernon Daniels rolled a 222 and Richard Zuill had a 214. Zuill still leads all bowlers with a 186.95 average.

Marjorie Correia led all the women with a 205. Sandra Ford (200) was the only other woman to bowl a natural 200. Brenda Burrows (193) had the third highest score for a woman.

High handicap series honours for the women went to Cathee Tumbridge (631). Sandra Ford (611) and Cindy Laurin (591) rounded out the top three.

Commercial League

BTC ended their freefall of the past three weeks with a 3-1 victory over the Braves. They didn’t have one of the top handicap games or series but took advantage of bad bowling by Braves to snatch the three points.

Second place Spinners fell further behind as Double Trouble spanked them 4-0. Others scores saw Do It Best Masters topple the King Pins 3-1 and Sunset down Strikers 3-1. The Royal Gazette and Sweet Life drew 2-2.

Christopher Smith rolled the high scratch game with a 236, which topped Robert ‘Dixie’ Symonds’ 212. Chris Leverock picked up a 200 with a 204.

The top three games by women were bowled by Christine Adams (189), Marilyn Simmons (187) and Sharon DeShields 9186).

But it was Corrinne Durrant who was the most consistent with a 621 handicap series. Sylvia Richardson (610) and Marilyn Simmons (609) also rolled past the 600 mark. Symonds was the top man with a 702. Christopher Smith (624) and Henry Mabaylan (603) round out the top three.
