Ernst makes run at Men’s title

Ernst & Young clawed their way into a first-place tie in the Men's Division, claiming three straight victories in recent play to push their record to 4-1. E&Y began with a 23-12 victory over Travel Connection Jets, scoring a dozen times in three innings to settle in. Monte Palsat (4/6) drove in six runs, with Ryan Ross (4/7, HR) adding five more. Paul DeCouto slugged a grand slam and Scott Quinn (3/5) drove in four to lead the Jets.

Ernst & Young carried that momentum against Barracudas, scoring ten runs over the final two innings to pull out a 16-12 comeback win. Chris Larkin (3/5, 5 RBI) put E&Y ahead with an eighth-inning grand slam, while Jeff Jane (2 RBI) added three hits. Heath Kihn (3/5) hit a grand slam and drove in six runs for Barracudas.

Ernst & Young finished up by polishing off Police by a count of 24-5. Steve Velotti (3/4) homered to drive in four, and Trevor Angus (3 RBI) added three hits. Jason Ming collected a pair of hits to lead the Police.

Sea Venture gave up sole possession of first place, losing a close game to Tuff Dogs by 14-12. Steve O'Flynn (5 RBI) homered twice for Tuff Dogs, who scored three times in the eighth inning to claim the lead. Steven Simons hit a two-run homerun for Sea Venture.

Tuff Dogs blasted Police by 36-9, scoring 13 times in the opening frame to set the stage. Ryan Gaglio (5/5, HR) led all batters with nine runs driven in, while Bradley Barton (4/5) brought in five. Dennis Joell (2/3) hit a three-run shot in defeat.

Tuff Dogs finished the stretch with an 18-6 pounding of Barracudas. Hywel Brown (3/5, 5 RBI) blasted a pair of homeruns, and Kevin Taylor (3 RBI) added another. Marcel Bouwens (2/4) drove in two runs in the loss.

Sea Venture started slow against Barracudas, before posting five runs in three different innings en route to a 24-8 pasting. Jon Gazzard (3/5, HR) knocked in five runners, with Chris Coleman (HR) bringing home four. Dean Martin (3/5, HR) drove in four to lead Barracudas.

Sea Venture opened with 16 runs in the first inning as they crushed Travel Connection Jets by a final score of 29-9.

Terence Corday (4/6, HR) and Mark Herauf (4/4, HR) both drove in four runs for the victors, who slammed all four homeruns in the first inning. Jessie Mills hit a two-run shot for the overmatched Jets.

Travel Connection Jets dropped Police by 19-10 for their first win of the season. Preston Mallory (3/6) slammed two homeruns to drive in seven, with Tracey Bean (5/6) close behind with a pair of two-run shots. Troy Glasgow (3/5, HR) drove in three in the loss.
