Local exhibition to help fund art scholarships

Tomorrow the Elliot Gallery will launch Eclectic: Collect It! - a five week fundraising exhibition displaying diverse art created or donated by local artists and collectors.

The exhibition is a fundraiser for Kaleidoscope Arts Foundation (KAF) and proceeds from all sales will go towards art scholarships and the building fund.

"Besides being a great opportunity for local artists to sell their work, the public will get a glimpse into some private collections," said Elliot Gallery facilities coordinator Laura Lyons.

"The collectors in the exhibition are enjoying the opportunity to organize their collections in order to expand or make room for new work. Some are looking to downsize their own private collections, others want to encourage an interest in purchasing art in new collectors, or they simply want to contribute to the fundraiser."

The exhibition includes artwork by Will Collieson, Christopher Marson, Scott Stallard, Betsy Mulderig, Angie Gentleman, Donald Roller Wilson, two early Jonah Jones paintings, and many more.

There are also works by former Bermuda National Gallery Biennial artists Kevin Morrison, Amanda Temple, Lynn Morrell, and Sharon Wilson.

Up and coming artists in the exhibition are photographers Gavin Howarth, Cullen O'Hara, Weldon Wade and studio jeweller Alexandra Mosher.

The opening for the exhibition will be tomorrow from 6pm to 8pm and it will run until Saturday March 6. The Elliot is located in the KAF building at 27 Jubilee Road in Devonshire.
