Hogges' new boy Antwan Russell is relishing his burgeoning strike partnership with in-form Domico Coddington as the pacey duo put USL defenses to the sword.
Russell looked sharp on Saturday night against Richmond Kickers, consistently getting in behind the backline to stretch the defence with his pace.
Converted midfielder Coddington - whose glancing first half header settled the contest - is causing similar problems with his cobra-like striking potential.
The partnership has yielded four from four games.
With Coddington rifling in three of those, Russell is keen to get in on the fun himself.
He said: "I've set myself a target of at least eight goals for the season. I think that's realistic.
"I was brought in to score goals so that's what I hope to do.
"Our defence is looking strong so if we can keep getting the goals at the other end then we'll be alright.
"We are playing well as a team right now so I'm definitely enjoying being part of the Hogges this season."
Russell is particularly enjoying playing alongside Coddington, who has been a revelation since switching to a striking role.
He said: "He's a good footballer so he has been able to adapt. He's scored three games on the trot and we're causing defences trouble right now.
"I just hope it continues. We enjoy playing together up top. I think some of the defences are a little slower, so it makes sense to use out pace up front.
"So far it seems to be working. It is hard for them to keep an eye on both of us."
Russell, who believes the Hogges can push on and secure a play-off place, believes he can be the team's surprise package this season. The 22-year-old - who is expected to lead the line in this weekend's double header against Wilmington - added: "They are probably pretty familiar with the rest of the guys but they won't know too much about me.
"They might give me a little bit more leeway, being the new guy, so hopefully I can take advantage of that."
Russell, who has had trials in both the MLS and the now defunct Major Indoor Soccer League, admitted it was still his aim to go pro.
He added: "I just want to play well for the Hogges and see where it takes me. Hopefully I can make it somewhere."
