Survey shows 72 per cent oppose Corporation of Hamilton take-over

TUESDAY, JULY 6: In a survey conducted by the Corporation of Hamilton, seven in 10 people said they do not support the Government's proposal to take over the Corporation.

Most of those surveyed said the Government should focus its attention on other issues, such as fighting crime and improving education.

The survey was conducted between June 29 and July 4, 2010, and included 401 Bermuda residents aged 18 and over.

I am thinking that Gov't has enough on there plate that they can't handle now..Fix whats broken already..Mind you I do believe that in order to work in the corporation you have to know somebody to get a foot in the door [...] so the 1 benefit of the take over HOPEFULLY would mean more open doors for more employees. Just a thought

So what will the govt. do after they take over the corporations...abolish them, or privatize them? Government property is a hindrance to Free Market Fundamentalism. Conversely, privatized entities are fair game for foreign investors to invest where they couldn't before...and isnt that the way the world is going...where big business become partners with the government - dare i say, "influences" the government - for mutually beneficial results? No, that's just crazy...i'm not going to "theorize" in that manner...but I'm just sayin, if that was the case, i'm sure "Joe Public" would fit somewhere in the middle of it all.
