Bermuda's creative artists have been celebrated in a creative awards ceremony.
The competition organised by the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs carried four categories; visual arts, writing, dance and music.
The Bermuda Sun's B. Candace Ray was named the winner of the writing category with her poem, Flag on the Reef.
Mrs. Ray said: "I find inspiration in just about everything. In this case, I was sitting in my car on the Stonington campus when the flag in front of the hotel caught my attention. Wind was whipping the flag and banging the lines against the pole, so it was easy to lose myself in the reverie.
"I write everywhere, even when I'm walking."
Winners in the other categories: Visual arts winner is Gillian Outerbridge for her piece St. Peter's Church Clock. In the music category James Woolf picked up the top prize for Time for a Change while Shomeiko Ingham won the top prize for Stormy Seas.
The winning entries will be displayed at the Premier's Gala celebrating Bermuda's 400th anniversary on November 21. The winners will be awarded $2,500 while those in second place and the youth prize winner will be given $1,000.
