WEDNESDAY, JULY 28: A suspected shooter appeared in court today charged with attempted murder.
Marico Bassett is alleged to have shot Randolph Lightbourne at around 5:10pm on July 23.
Mr. Lightbourne, 44, was gunned down near Cambridge Road in Sandys. He was rushed to hospital and remains in a stable condition in intensive care.
Mr. Bassett appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning amid a heavy police presence to face one charge of attempted murder.
The 19-year-old is also accused of possessing cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply and a further charge of possessing drugs paraphernalia including scales and scissors on July 24.
He did not enter a plea to the attempted murder charge as it can only be dealt with in the Supreme Court.
But he denied the three drugs allegations.
Mr. Bassett of Sandys was remanded in custody until August 11 when he will appear at Magistrates’ Court again.
