Alcohol awareness organization CADA is reminding members of the public to drink responsibly this Cup Match and especially not to drink and drive.
In the past four and a half years some 43 people have died in Bermuda as a result of impaired driving. Anthony Santucci, CADA chairman, warned: “Do not become a tragic statistic.”
Garbage collection changes
There will be a number of changes to the garbage collection over the Cup Match holiday.
In the west end household garbage and recycling will be collected tonight. In the east end household garbage and recycling in will be collected on Saturday, July 31.
Holiday parking restrictions
There will be a number of parking restrictions in place at Cup Match in Somerset. These are as follows:
There will be no parking on Somerset Road, Bobs Valley Lane, Broome Street, Cricket Lane, Gilbert Lane, Hook ‘n Ladder Lane, Long Bay Lane, Railway Right of Way, Scott’s Hill Road and Arnold’s Supermarket Parking Area.
The following areas will be one-way roads: Broome Street, Railway Right of Way and Hook ‘n Ladder Lane.
Long Bay Lane and Gilbert Lane will now be two-way roads.
Cricket Lane will be closed to all traffic except for refreshment vehicles approved by the Police.
Vehicles wishing to park on the grounds of Somerset Cricket Club will enter via the northeast gate from Broome Street.
The designated parking areas for the games are: Sandy’s Secondary Middle School, West End Primary School, Somerset Primary School, Royal Naval Field and Broome Street for two wheeled vehicles only.
