Josseline, you make a great point but if we don't stick up for the youth, who will. Something has to be done because Bermuda's size doesn't give it much wiggle room for mistakes. The so-called thugs are at the bottom of the food chain. The top of the food chain is where the real problem is. The gun manufacturers & importers are well aware that a percentage of their product ends up on the streets illegally, it's all part of doing business......they are the true thugs.

The fact that some can "lawfully" own a gun is the biggest part of the problem. Why does anyone need a gun in Bermuda in the first place. I don't rememeber seeing game big enough to shoot there. Thugs don't manufacter guns, thugs don't make bullets. And I'm willing to bet you those thugs didn't import those weapons to your island. I'm not making excuses for the criminals, but putting them all in jail will not solve the problem. In America we can't build jails fast enough to house our criminals. We have more convicts than most countries have citizens. Change the culture, go after the manufacturers & importers. Make it impossible, illegal for anyone to own a gun (no excuses).
