Ministry of Works and Engineering
WEDNESDAY, MAR. 10: The Ministry of Works and Engineering will be holding the first E-Waste Drop-Off Day of 2010 this Saturday, March 13, at the Tynes Bay Waste to Energy Facility on Palmetto Road, Devonshire, from 9 am until 5 pm.
E-Waste is the collective term used to describe electronic waste and includes such items as: computers, printers, cell phones, fax machines, televisions, monitors, stereo equipment, small appliances such as toasters and hairdryers, personal audio players (iPods), and any other electronic or electrical device containing circuit boards.
The E-Waste recycling program is designed to reduce the potential environmental impact in Bermuda regarding the disposal of these materials and also to facilitate recycling of these materials overseas.
The E-Waste recycling initiative complements the T.A.G. (tin, aluminium and glass) curbside blue bag recycling programme, recycling of household air conditioners, and recycling of household and vehicular batteries already in place as components of Bermuda's Comprehensive Waste Management System.
