Cabinet Office press release
TUESDAY, FEB. 9: Minister of Culture and Social Rehabilitation Neletha Butterfield today announced the Mirrors Programme is conducting professional development training for the teachers of CedarBridge Academy.
The three-day workshop runs from Monday to Wednesday this week.
This event is being held as an expression of the Mirrors Programme's continued commitment to education. It is specifically designed to help motivate and empower the teachers to work more effectively with their colleagues, students and other members of the community.
Cedarbridge principal Kalmar Richards said: "I am an advocate of the Mirrors Programme and am in full support of the participation of the teachers in this workshop as it will ultimately benefit the students. I recognize that educating students requires a multi-dimensional approach and the teachers' involvement in the Mirrors Programme will equip them with additional tools as professionals and as teachers."
Gina Davis, director of Instruction and Staff Development, agreed with Principal Richards and added that the training would help teachers to understand the process the students who participated in Mirrors have gone through.
The professional development training is an interactive programme in which participants explore thought-provoking questions and concepts designed to help them develop a clearer outlook of what they can accomplish and how to make more powerful choices in their workplace. The training is recommended for professionals who are committed to discovering new ways to make a difference in their client's lives.
Other benefits include:
* A renewed appreciation for themselves and their profession.
* New ideas on working effectively with clients and staff.
* A sense of empowerment and confidence in producing improved results at work.
Mirrors will continue to work in partnership with other organizations in an effort to transform the community.
Ms Butterfield said: "In closing I would like to invite the public to continue to support this amazing programme. Join us as we continue to transform our community, one person at a time."
