MONDAY, FEB. 8: After addressing several influential film producers in Chennai, Premier Dr. Ewart Brown signed a second Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote film shoots in Bermuda. Today the MOU was with the Film Federation of India.
Dr. Brown recognized that the Indian film industry is one of the largest in the world. He said that he was in India to promote both pillars of Bermuda's economy: international business and tourism.
He said: "I am here to encourage Indian film shoots to happen in Bermuda which will help us to promote tourism in Bermuda through Indian cinema."
Yesterday's MOU was with Whistling Woods Institute, Asia's largest film, television, animation and media arts institute. In that agreement, Whistling Woods will recommend Bermuda to the Indian entertainment industry. Bermuda will make sponsorships available to two students every year from Bermuda to study film making at Whistling Woods.
Yesterday evening, one dinner guest was eminent filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, director of the largest grossing Indian movie playing in theatres around the world now. He said he believed that an Indian movie could be shot in Bermuda and promised to visit Bermuda shortly.
The Premier also addressed about 40 CEOs at the Confederation of Indian Industry in the morning and 300 lawyers and accountants at a conference at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in the afternoon.
Tomorrow the delegation travels to New Delhi, India's capital.
