Two of Bermuda's biggest reggae singers are taking "their mutual respect" to another level with a new single.
Collie Buddz and Ninja Cutty are taking the island by storm having joined forces for their new song called She Got Me.
They have wanted to team up for about three years, but have only just "found the time" in their busy schedules.
The song has not yet been given an official release date but it is already "taking off like a rocket" on HOTT 107.5's email request chart. It has been the most requested song at the radio station for the last two weeks.
Cutty said: "We've known for about three years that we wanted to hook up, but there's just not been time.
"Colin's been doing his thing overseas and I've been busy doing my music. It's just been trying to get us both together on the island.
"There's now a real sense of 'yeah, we've finally done this."
Worldwide success
Buddz, aka Colin Harper, continues to enjoy worldwide success having signed a five-album deal with Sony Urban. He has performed with musicians such as Ne-Yo, Gyptian, and Sean Paul, and is best known for his singles Come Around, Blind To You and Tomorrow's Another Day.
While Cutty, 33, who is a DJ on HOTT 107.5, started performing from the age of 13 and recorded his first single called Champagne in 1990. He has recently gained a certificate in electronic recording and engineering after studying in London saying; "anything to do with audio, I'm on it."
But Cutty admits the success of the new single has taken them both by surprise as "it's happened so quickly."
Cutty said: "It's taking off like a rocket without any publicity, which is amazing.
"It's a real good feeling, there's a real buzz around this song. There are six and seven year olds singing the song and I'm being told people's grandmothers also like it.
'Strange but wonderful'
"Being a radio person and seeing you're at no.1 of a countdown that you don't normally have anything to do with is a little strange, but wonderful at the same time."
Buddz and Cutty have known each other through the local music scene for more than 10 years. They met in about 1996 through Buddz' older brother; Matthew 'Smokey' Harper, who is a music producer.
Cutty was the first to start making music and Buddz has talked openly about listening to Cutty when he was growing up.
The song came about as 'Smokey' called up Cutty about a month ago saying he had a track he wanted him to listen to.
'Smokey' and Buddz had been working on the first draft of the track in the studio.
Impressed by what he heard, Cutty went to their studio in Smiths to record his vocals just a couple of days later, saying: "It only took me a day to do my thing."
Cutty said: "Smokey was like 'yeah I had you in mind when I laid down these vocals.'
"Everything just seemed to fit as the punch line of the song [uh, uh, uh, uh, uh] is my signature. Everyone knows I say that all the time, so it wasn't hard to do the track, it just came naturally to me. That hook is blazing."
He added: "The recording was very smooth. It was very comfortable and reassuring to work with people I knew so well, there were no guessing games."
Cutty said he was "elated" when his friend Buddz hit the big time as over the years they have "both been influenced by each other."
Cutty said: "Even before Colin reached the super-stardom level, we've always had mutual respect for one another, for one another's craft.
"We have both always been involved with music. Colin is an inspiration to me as an artist and as a person."
Buddz and Cutty are now planning to film a video to She Got Me. They will "definitely be shooting in Bermuda" but are keeping tight-lipped about the locations.
Cutty said: "It's going to be a summer video with the beach and water, it's going to be spectacular."
The two artists also plan to get together to perform the song on the island this summer.
Cutty said: "One can't perform the track without the other, it just wouldn't be right, it's a joint song, we'll definitely get together for the fans. Stay tuned for details."
