THURSDAY, AUGUST 2: Jesse and Zander Kirkland had their best race of the Olympics when they finished sixth today. Unfortunately, they also had another Did Not Finish.
Every day the brothers, sailing in the 49er Class, have been getting better.
In the fifth race, the Kirklands were third after the first mark, just five seconds behind leaders Great Britain.
They held that position at the second marker before dropping back to sixth and then did well in keeping sight of the other top contenders and did move back up to fourth before finishing sixth.
The second race, the eighth in the series, they were 14th at the first marker and had moved up to 12th by the third before disaster struck once again giving them another DNF.
They are 19th overall.
