WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 1: The cable ship European Supporter paid a flying nocturnal visit to Bermuda in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The multi-purpose support vessel that belongs to P&O arrived at Five Fathom Hole off St David’s at around 2am for a crew change.

Six crew were taken off the ship on board its offshore launch, while five replacement crew, who had flown into the island, joined the vessel in Bermuda.

The ship performs a wide range of installation and burial tasks across the globe for both telecom and power cables.

The European Supporter began her journey in Newcastle, England and was back on her way to Texas by the time the sun rose in Bermuda on Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile the island’s three container ships are all in this week packed with goodies for Cup Match.

The Oleander brought in a big load of 163 containers on Sunday. Nearly a third of those were refrigerated and full of Cup Match food.

The Somers Isles came in yesterday with more supplies and the Bermuda Islander will come in a day earlier than usual today because of the Cup Match Holiday.

Finally five cruise liners make up the shipping schedule for this week.

The Norwegian Star and the Summit arrive in Dockyard this morning for two-day stays.

While this weekend the Explorer of the Seas The Norwegian Dawn and Enchantment of the Seas descend on the West End.
