MONDAY, APRIL 9: Taylor-Ashley Bean stormed to a silver medal in the 3,000 metres this evening.

The young Bermudian ran a measured race and finished strongly to secure her second medal of the CARIFTA Games.

Bean said: "I'm very happy with the silver.

"I ran my own race when the girl from Guyana went off on her own at the start.

"The tunnel of noise when I came down the home straight was incredible.

"To do this in my country in front of my friends means a great deal especially as this is my last year at the CARIFTA's.

"Maybe I should have kicked a little earlier, but I am happy with the silver.

"I had a lot of confidence in myself going into this competition, and I am pleased with my performance."

Bean ran an incredibly brave race, following on from winning the bronze medal in the 1,500 metres on Saturday.

She added: "The race on Saturday did not affect me too much.

"I felt really good going into this and I am stronger than I have ever been."
