FRIDAY, JULY 13: Blenn Bean won a trip for two to see Liverpool play at Anfield in the Carlsberg Contest. Sponsored by the Bermuda Sun and Burrows Lightbourn, Bean’s name was pulled in the draw in the first year the contest was done completely online.
Overall Bean finished just outside the top 10 for the Premier League Fantasy Football contest.
Bean, who follows Arsenal, said “I consider myself a football fan rather than an Arsenal fan so any trip to watch a professional team would be a good trip.”
Bean said the only other Premier League club he has seen play was West Ham, and that was on a PHC trip.
“The last (professional) game I saw was in Germany and that was crazy because they have hooligans. They had them all sectioned off to one side. It was electrifying.”
Bean said his top choices to see play at Anfield would be Newcastle United, Tottenham and Man United.
“Newcastle United were exciting the last couple of games. They play a very open, attacking game. Tottenham because they all out attack and United because they are a big team.”
Bean said when he was left a message by the Bermuda Sun he thought he was only going to win a Liverpool jersey.
“I thought that was pretty cool but when I found out it was the tickets I was like ‘yeah!’ and I ran around the house.”
Bean said he was originally planning on taking his son to with him to the game but there is an age restriction.
“He really wanted to go, but he is going to England next month with PHC, so I am going to take my cousin Shawn Russell, who is a Liverpool fan.”
The Carlsberg Contest had over 330 competitors this season.
Sign-ups for next year’s Premier League Fantasy Football contest will open shortly.
