TUESDAY, JUNE 19: Bermuda’s track and field teams for the CAC Junior Championships and BACAC Under-23 Championships have been announced. Seven athletes have been selected for the Under-23 regionals with an additional 12 picked for the CAC Juniors.
Taylor Ashley Bean helps headline the CAC Juniors squad which will compete on June 29 to July 1 in San Salvador, El Salvador. The middle distance runner will compete in the Junior A Women’s 800m, 1500m and 3000m.
Shaquille Dill (400m and 800m) and Juma Mouchette (1500m) will compete in the Junior A Men.
Rounding out the team for the Junior B Women are: Taahirah Butterfield (100m and 200m), Kyrah Scraders (800m, 1500m), Rachel Fox (800m) and Shuntae Hendrickson (1500m).
The Junior B Men will see five Bermudians compete. Kyle Webb, Kidane Callender, Justin Donawa, and Chas Smith will represent Bermuda in the 4 x 100m relay.
In addition, Smith will compete in the high jump and long jump; Webb and Callender in the 100m and 200m; and Donawa in the long jump and triple jump.
Dage Minors will represent Bermuda in the 800m and 1500m.
Former Olympian Devon Bean will lead the management team as the head coach.
Jarita Dill (female coach), Jerome Richards (middle distance coach) and Angie Berry (team manager) will also assist.
Aaron Evans and Henry Stevens-Carty will compete in the 800m at the NACAC U-23 Championships in Trinidad on July 6 to 8.
Tre Houston will compete in the 200m, Tristan Joyiens in the 110m hurdles and Sean Trott in the 10,000m.
Alison Outerbridge and Jasmine Brunson will fly the flag for Bermuda’s women in the triple jump.
Dr. Freddie Evans will accompany them as team manager while Sandro Fubler will serve as team physiotherapist.
