FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2: A new watchdog to police judges and magistrates is to be set up, Attorney General and Minister for Justice Kim Wilson said today.

Ms Wilson announced that Government would ask Governor George Fergusson to look at setting up a Judicial Complaints Authority, which would handle complaints from the public about “abuse of power by adjudicators".

She said: “This particular vehicle will be designed to allow litigants to file complaints, including language, sexist language, racist language – language that’s not fit conduct from a member of the judicial system.”

Earlier, delivering the Throne Speech on behalf of Government, Governor George Fergusson said: “It will bring Bermuda in line with other modern, reputable jurisdictions.”
