A gang of thieves armed with what appeared to be a handgun terrorized occupants of a house during a burglary which left one victim needing hospital treatment, police said today.

The gang of four – all wearing crash helmets with visors and dark clothing – got into the home in Camp Drive, Warwick, around 11.20pm on Tuesday.

They terrified the occupants of the house before escaping on foot.

A police spokesman said: “During the incident, one of the offenders brandished what appeared to be a firearm.”

He added that the injured 31-year-old, who has not been named, was treated at the King Edward Hospital and later released.

Police have appealed for witnesses and for anyone who noticed any suspicious activity or vehicles in the area around 11pm on Tuesday to contact them.
