Award-winning filmmaker Andrew Stevenson has donated 40 copies of his whale documentary to the Ministry of Education.

His film, Where the Whales Sing, about the North Atlantic humpback whale that passes through Bermuda’s waters, will be distributed to public schools around the island.

Minister of education Dame Jennifer Smith described it as a “magnanimous gift”.

Ms Smith said: “The story of the humpback whale is something that our children need to be aware of, because these magnificent creatures are part of our environment.

“I do hope this film will inspire some of our students to become adventurous, maybe even inspire some to become marine biologists.

Mr. Stevenson was recently voted Best Emerging Underwater Filmmaker at the BLUE Ocean Film Festival in California for his film.
