WEDNESDAY, MAR. 23: Smoke curls from the wreckage of a burnt-out vehicle as soldiers in riot gear advance across a smoke-filled urban battleground.

These striking images show Bermuda Regiment soldiers on exercise at Morgan’s Point this weekend.

The troops were put through a series of drills designed to prepare them for Internal Security Operations, including riot control.

Simulated explosions and the sound of blank rounds being fired echoed across the former naval annex during the two-day operation, code named March Madness.

Recruits playing the role of rioters fought pitched battles with soldiers in a series of simulated combat situations. The event was a warm-up for an overseas camp in North Carolina next month.
