THURSDAY, JULY 19: Police have not given up hope of tracing missing man Rudy Smith safe and well, they said tonight.
A police spokesman added: “The investigation is ongoing and we are appealing for anyone with any information to contact us.
“Members of the public have said they are going to look for him and we’re doing our part to try and locate him as well.
“We are still putting all our efforts into finding out any information which will lead us to where he is or to what has happened to him.”
Mr Smith, 39, went missing on Monday, July 9 after visiting his girlfriend in Devonshire.
He told his girlfriend he was heading back to his family home in Pembroke – but never showed up.
Police on Monday recovered Mr Smith’s motorcycle from the water near Grace Methodist Chapel on North Shore Road in Pembroke.
Mom Madeline Rampersad, who said her son had battled with drugs in the past, said the father-of-one earned a living repairing bikes, cleaning cars and doing some gardening work.
Appealing for him to get in touch with her, she said he rarely strayed far from home and had no obvious enemies or reasons to disappear.
Anyone with information which could help police should contact the Serious Crime Unit on 247 1340 or the confidential and anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline on 800 8477.
