SATURDAY, DEC. 31: A Bermudian businesswoman was shot and killed in Jamaica last night.

The victim was named as Karen Hudson-Lewis, 45, of Paget by the Caribbean website Go-Jamaica and the Jamaican Gleaner.

According to the Jamaican media a man is being questioned in connection with the murder which took place in the Mandeville area.

Detectives have also recovered a 9mm Glock pistol which they believe was used in the shooting.

Reports state that Ms Hudson-Lewis and her taxi driver, Everton Daley, were gunned down as they arrived at Ms Hudson Lewis's home in Perthland Drive from the airport.

Police arrived at the scene just before 9pm and found Ms Hudson-Lewis and Mr Daley with gunshot wounds.

They were both rushed to hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.

The Jamaican Gleaner has reported that a male, who was in the house at the time of the shooting, has been taken into custody.

Superintendent Lascelles Taylor told the Gleaner that the man taken into custody was the care taker of Ms Hudson-Lewis's home.

He said: "She (Ms Hudson-Lewis) was living in Bermuda but she comes (to Jamaica) like once or twice per year so she leaves someone at the house.

"But when she came back something happened, so we are interogating the survivor of the group who is the care taker of the house."
