WEDNESDAY, APRIL 18: Coroner Archibald Warner has ruled that the HWP blaze in August last year was ‘accidental’.

He has therefore dispensed with the need to hold an inquest into the fire.

A statement released on behalf of the Coroner today stated: “The Coroner, Mr. Archibald Warner having reviewed the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service’s file concerning the investigation into the cause of the fire at Holmes Williams Purvey, 54, St. John’s Road, Pembroke that occurred on Monday August 8, 2011 is satisfied that the fire was accidental.

“Pursuant to section 9 of the Coroner’s Act, 1938 and as read with section 23 of the said Act, the Coroner, has dispensed with the need to hold an inquest into the said fire.”
