FRIDAY, JUNE 8: A tourist was injured when a street brawl broke out outside a Dockyard nightspot in the early hours of this morning.

The brawl involved around 20 people, including several visitors, and was broken up by police.

Extra officers were drafted in as police dealt with the disturbance, which led to one arrest, although the man was later released without charge.

A police spokesman said: “At this time, we have not received a formal complaint regarding this matter.

“One male visitor was injured, but he did not require hospital treatment.”

He added that no weapons had been involved in the incident.

The spokesman said: “In line with our commitment to have additional resources in the Dockyard area during the summer period, the Bermuda Police Service will continue to monitor those levels and respond appropriately.”

He added that an investigation into the incident, which happened around 3:15am, continues. He appealed for witnesses to contact Somerset Police Station on 234-1010 or the confidential and independent Crime Stoppers hotline on 800 8477.
