WEDNESDAY, MAY 2: Detectives remain determined to track down the killers of a man who was shot dead a year ago yesterday.
Jason Smith was gunned down in the early hours of May 1 last year as he left a house at the junction of Overview Hill and North Shore Road in Pembroke.
The investigation into the 22-year-old’s tragic death remains open and no one has been brought to justice yet.
Last night a police spokesman made a fresh appeal for information on the anniversary of the shooting.
He said: “The Bermuda Police Service would first of all like to acknowledge the assistance provided to them by members of the public in relation to the murder of Jason Smith a year ago.
“Investigators continue to pursue all new lines of inquiry but to date no one has been brought to justice for this heinous murder.
“Our thoughts are obviously with his family and friends during this very difficult time.”
Officers are still keen to talk to anyone who saw Mr Smith in the hours leading up to the fatal shooting.
The spokesman added: “We are to speak to anyone that can assist in bringing the murderer or murderers of Jason Smith to face justice.
“Members of the public may recall that Jason had been out socializing with close friends on the night of his murder at some bars and nightclubs in the city of Hamilton.
“Anyone that may have seen Jason that night that has not yet spoken to police or anyone with any information that may assist police should call the Serious Crime Unit on 247-1739.”
Members of the public with information can also call the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.
