THURSDAY, APRIL 12: Five defendants charged in connection with an armed burglary were today remanded into custody.
Jasmine Smith, 19, Tyrone Pedro, 21, Terrence Christopher, 21, and Shayne James, 18, were charged earlier this week with breaking into Rhonda Wilkinson’s Devonshire home with a machete on April 2 and stealing jewellery, a Sony PlayStation game console, two games and $500 cash with a total value of $3,555.
The defendants were also charged with using an imitation firearm while committing an indictable offence, aggravated burglary.
Ms Smith and Dwayne Brangman, 19, were charged with dishonestly handling stolen goods - the Sony PlayStation game console and two games, valued at $575 - knowing them to be stolen goods.
All the alleged offences happened on the same day.
The charges are indictable and must be heard in the Supreme Court.
After a lengthy bail hearing this morning, Magistrate Juan Wolffe remanded all five defendants into custody until April 26.
