WEDNESDAY, MARCH 14: An alleged gang member was today jailed for 25 years for attempted murder.

Anwar Muhammad, 22, was found guilty in January of trying to kill Shantoine Princeton Burrows outside the Maxi Mart in Sandys on August 23, 2010.

He was also convicted of using a firearm to commit an indictable offence.

During the trial the court heard that Mr Burrows was seriously injured as a result of the drive-by shooting.

Prosecutors claimed that Muhammad had links to the Somerset-based MOB gang and had been the man who had pulled the trigger.

Muhammad always maintained that he was not the shooter and he denied being part of any gang.

Puisne Judge Carlisle Greaves gave Muhammad 15 years for attempted murder and 10 years for using a firearm to commit an indictable offence.

The sentences will run concurrently.
