OPTOMETRISTS AND OPTICIANS AMENDMENT REGULATIONS 2011

The Minister responsible for Health, in exercise of the power conferred by section 29 of the Optometrists and Opticians Act 2008, makes the following Regulations:
Citation
1 These Regulations may be cited as the Optometrists and Opticians Amendment Regulations 2011.
Interpretation
2 In these Regulations “principal Regulations” means the Optometrists and Opticians Regulations 2010.
Amends regulation 8
3 Regulation 8 of the principal Regulations is amended—
(a) in subsection (1)—
(i) by deleting the reference “36” and substituting “24”; and
(ii) by deleting the words “in every period of three calendar years” and substituting “during the time period required in section 8(2)(b) of the Act”;
(b) in subsection (2)—
(i) by deleting the reference “24” and substituting “16”; and
(i) by deleting the words “in every period of three calendar years” and substituting “during the time period required in section 8(2)(b) of the Act”;
(c) in subsection (3)—
(i) by deleting the reference “30” and substituting “20”; and
(ii) by deleting the words “in every period of three calendar years” and substituting “during the time period required in section 8(2)(b) of the Act”;
(d) by repealing subsection (4); and
(e) by inserting the following—
“(5) A registered person who exceeds the number of hours of continuing professional education in a registration period shall be permitted to carry forward a prescribed number of hours of continuing professional education into the next registration period.
(6) All continuing professional education shall have prior approval of the Council.
(7) Approved continuing professional education shall consist of any course characterized by the issuance of a certificate documenting attendance or completion of—
(a) a designated seminar or course;
(b) an online course, a mail correspondence course or a pre-recorded media course; or
(c) any other course format approved by the Council.
(8) The certificate referred to in subsection (7) shall include—
(a) the registered person’s name;
(b) the course title;
(c) the name of the organization or individual giving the course;
(d) the date and location of the course;
(e) the number of hours completed; and
(f) any other information as required by the Council.”.
Repeals regulation 11
4 Regulation 11 of the principal Regulations is repealed.

Citation
1 This Notice may be cited as the Marine Board (Control Over Maritime Traffic) (No. 2) Notice 2011.
Power Boat Closed Circuit Races
2 Four Power Boat Closed Circuit Races will be held on Sunday 29 May 2011.
Closure of certain areas
3 The Races will be held in the areas specified below and such areas will be closed to normal marine traffic from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.—
(a) the area between No. 1 Dock and No. 6 Dock out to a distance of approximately 500 feet; and
(b) the area from No. 8 Dock to World’s End Shoal Channel Marker to Reid Island to White’s Island and thence back to No. 8 Dock.
Speed limits not to apply
4 The general speed limits for boats set out in the Marine Board (Declaration of Speed Limits for Boats) (Mariners) Notice 2001 shall not apply to persons and boats participating in the Races.
Caution to be exercised by mariners
5 At the time of the Races, the waters approaching the areas specified in paragraph 3 are five-knot no wake zones and all mariners, pilots and boatmen are required to exercise extreme caution in the waters approaching the closed areas.
Patrol of course
6 Marshall boats will patrol the areas specified in paragraph 3.
