Nishanthi Bailey is a diva and goddess of the stage!

Performing since the age of four, she is a Spelmanite locally best known as a comedic artist. However, it’s her dramatic skills that gained the actress, stage manager and director international acknowledgment as the first runner-up at Las Vegas’s Talent Rock Acting Competition and the first to receive the Annual Ruby Awards “Best Actress” title in Atlanta, GA.

The 29-year-old Drama Teacher is ticking off an artistic bucket list item as she performs in her first self-directed, one woman performance in celebration of her upcoming $30,000 30th Birthday Charity Project from May 21 to 24 at Daylesford Theatre from 7pm nightly.

When did you last laugh out loud?

Five minutes ago! I’m a middle school teacher who experiences “kids do the darnedest things” moments daily!

Your earliest memory?

Four years old — being in church ‘on a Saturday’ (attending my Great-Grandfather’s funeral) irritably waiting for the bride to come!

What were you like in school?

Some say I was a teacher’s pet...but they didn’t know me! LOL.

If you were given a million dollars tomorrow what would you do with it?

SPEND IT!!  As my mother always says...”You can’t take it with you!”

Who is your hero/heroine?

Definitely, my mama and my daddy! As my brother would say “...for without them, I would not be here today!” *Big smile*.

Human trait you value most in others?

Honesty! Because sometimes, I am just too gullible!  (lol).

Do you believe in fate?

I better! Got me this far!

Your greatest fear?

Hairy-legged spiders!!! Arachnophobia to the tenth power!!!   EEWWW!!!  #BIGscardycat

Most embarrassing moment?

Accidentally passing gas “out loud” in a public place.  (Everyone has done that by mistake right?)

Your ultimate ambition?

To work earnestly so I can pay the bills and have a little spontaneous fun while doing it!

Your most unappealing habit?

According to my mother... I smack gum like a cow!  #butwhatdoessheknow

Describe yourself in three words.

Which human trait do you dislike the most?

L.I.A.R.S. (Lame Ignorant And Rambling Souls) lol #iloveacronyms

Best party you’ve ever been to?

Probably one that I don’t remember!  (Which I don’t!) LOL.

Anyone you’d like to say ‘sorry’ to?

Probably my mother... I got a lot of well deserved “cut-tails” when I was a child. #notfunny

Worst job you’ve ever done?

LOVED all of my paying jobs!

Biggest regret?

Never attending a Whitney Houston concert!  #realtears.

Closest you’ve ever come to death?

After saying some smart comment to my mother when I was a child and she chased me two blocks to give me a “cut-tail”...I SAW THE LIGHT!!  #shewasfasttoo.

Your desert island song?

Saving All My Love For You... always a Whitney tune... wherever, whenever, no matter! I don’t care if you put it to a Latin, Soca, Gospel or Country Beat!

What animal would you be and why?

Chameleon... I can quickly and easily change or adapt!

What do you do if you can’t sleep?

Look at the clock irritably and think “Serious?” (or I call and wake up my mama).

If you had a time machine, where would you go?

Whitney Houston’s primary school!  I know we would have been BEST FRIENDS to the end!

Your most memorable dream?

I always forget my dreams by time I’ve had my shower. *covering eyes*

Most unpleasant exchange you’ve had with a person?

Getting licks from my daddy that ONE summer afternoon!  #feelingsWAYhurt #daddysaintsupposedtodothat #daddysgirl

Best advice you have ever taken?

“Always smile”’ll make people wonder what you’re thinking, been up to, or will be contagious!

What do you most dislike about you appearance?

Not so much my appearance I don’t like, but the fact that my clothes seem to shrink after every season!  #whatsupwiththat?

What do you like best about your appearance?

My smile... it usually almost always cheers me up!  #cheese

Nicest thing anyone has ever said to you?

“You’ve got a boogie in your eye” or “...something in your teeth”.  Yes, it’s embarrassing, but SOOO nice to be told that before another 100 people see it!

Define romantic love.

Flowers. Cuddles. Kisses. Random “I Love Yous”.  #cliche ... I know, but I LOVE IT!

What’s your best joke?

This is soo sad!  When I started teaching, if my students were working too slow I would always tell them “Mayonnaise and KET-CHUP!” LOL.  Get it?  (Catch up). I still crack up at that! (lol)

Most treasured possession?

Four years and over $100,000 later... My College Degree!

A dream location for a home?

The top of a hill — with both a city and ocean view on adjacent sides of the house!  I’m gonna have that! (lol).

What keeps you up at night?

Right now... learning 36 pages of lines for this upcoming show! (lol).

Guilty pleasure?

Wine and dark chocolate!!  Put them together and I am  #GUILTYASCHARGED

Favourite film?

Coming to America!  #shesyourqueentobe (lol).

Your proudest achievement?

Recently...Paying off my car note!! (Only so that another bill can take its place *smh* lol)
#newhomeowner #blessed.

Most important lesson life has taught you?

E-VE-RY-THING happens for a roll with the waves, and make the best out of the journey!

What would you most like to be remembered for?

 Smiles and happy endings :).
