She said: “DJ Power is the New York Remix King he has won several awards for it.
“He is known for his ability to mix house music to reggae and reggae music to rap, rock to pop.
“He used to blend reggae songs with other songs and beats almost like how Puff Daddy takes old music and makes it new he does it with different genres — he gives them a new twist.
“He just came off the Fly So High tour with Machel Montano and Kardinal Offishall.
“They went all over the touring promoting his new video and he was the official DJ for Junior Reid.
“He is a producer, he has a couple of videos out he has toured with everyone from 50 Cent all the way down to local Canadian artists.”
DJ Power has been featured in the New York Times, Scratch magazine and has made numerous appearances on TV and radio stations including MTV, the BBC in the UK and even here in Bermuda on HOTT 107.5.
In 2007 he launched his syndicated Outta Control Radio show with BET Rapacity host Mad Linx in several countries and a year later he united with Junior Reid on two worldwide tours. Then in 2010 he released his Waving Flag remix by Knaan featuring Machel Montano for the Coca Cola World Cup anthem.
His current single and video Fly So High with Montano and Kardinal Offishall is released with an EP soon to be released.
This will be his third trip to Bermuda having performed at previous private events organized by Laura.
She met the Toronto-born DJ in his home city after buying one of his mix tapes in a store.
She loved the music so much that she contacted him to see if she could bring his CDs to Bermuda.
“I ended up meeting him and we became really good friends,” she recalls.
“He performed at my 30th birthday three years ago with Collie Buddz at Level nightclub before it closed. That was a private party with 400 of my closest friends!
“This is the first time we have gone really big with the party — this is our tenth anniversary so we really wanted to do something special for ourselves.”
DJ Power will perform alongside local hip-hop inspired duo Victims of Existence who recently signed a distribution deal in association with Sony Music Network along with Vibe 103’s DJ Chubb, DJ Smokey and Lifestyles Entertainment spinning old and new school “and everything in between”.
