FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 21: Maxi Priest gave a superb rendition of the Beatles’ All My Loving at a rehearsal session on Wednesday afternoon.

During a Bermuda Sun photo shoot he got up on stage at the Chewstick Foundation headquarters on Court Street and gave an energised performance backed by his band.

He ad libbed parts of the song which he said he might do during tonight’s John Lennon Double Fantasy Tribute Concert where he is to perform.

The reggae and R&B star has been on the island since Monday.

He told us: “Since I’ve been here I have just been admiring this beautiful place and hanging out with my ‘fams’. (His cousin lives on the island and he also has a son here).

“I like to play soccer because it helps me to keep healthy — on Tuesday I played with the Boulevard Blazers — Fiyah! We won, we always win!

“I’ve been busy rehearsing and then just chilling I’ve been around on the moped visiting here and there. I’m really looking forward to the concert.”

Asked if he wanted to send a message out to Bermuda before tonight’s show he said: “Tell Bermuda I love you!

“I really appreciate everybody because without them I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing and I want to thank them for their support not only for my music but for reggae music on the whole. Whatever they are doing I wish them the best.”

We also caught up with Heather Nova during her rehearsals at Docksiders on Tuesday evening.

The tribute concert will take place tonight  at the show ring at The Botanical Gardens from 8pm. Tickets are available via www.ptix.bm.
