FRIDAY, MAY 11: Love and Laughter, a special Mother’s Day event featuring Jagged Edge and international comedians will be held on Sunday night.
A Mother’s Day event complete with a concert and comedy show this weekend promises to be entertainment for all.
Love and Laughter will be held at the Fairmont Southampton Resort on Sunday night featuring R&B group Jagged Edge alongside comedians Michael Blackstone, RIP Michaels and Kendall Short Ward.
Quality Entertainment is presenting the show.
Organizer Gregory Armstrong said the show will have something for everyone.
“One of the things we try to do is dabble in different kinds of events.
“The concert actually came from one of the comedians, Michael Blackstone.
“We pitched him some ideas for show and he came up with the event.
“I feel love and laughter is the key to life.
“We shouldn’t live without it.”
Mix for everyone
He continued: “We felt it would be a mixture for everyone.
“You can come and get a full comedy show and a full concert.
“Have a laugh, listen to music and have a good night.”
Part proceeds of the event will go to Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Armstrong said: “We feel the reason we chose them is because they are the next generation.
“If we don’t start to consider them now, there’s no tomorrow.”
Asked why he chose Jagged Edge, the organizer said: “Basically, that’s what came to mind.
“We also wanted a show for the age group 46 and down.
“If you listened to the radio back then, you know about them.
“Everyone from that age group should know them.
“It should be a nice night out.”
Armstrong said Bermudian comedian Bootsie will host the event.
“It will start out with the comedians followed by an intermission.
“Jagged Edge will close the night out with a concert.
“We will warm up with a little laugh and finish the night off with some music.”
The show is expected to last around three hours.
Doors open at 7pm and the main event will start at 8pm sharp.
It will be held in the Poinciana Ballroom and there is enough space for about 1,300 people, Armstrong said.
Asked what he would say to encourage people to attend the event, Armstrong said: “I would say whether you’re a mother or not, it’s an event that should appeal to all.
“Whether you’re coming to get a laugh or hear music, it will give a little bit to everyone.
“If you’re a couple, it’s a good night out or if you want to send your mom, it’s something for everyone.”
He continued: “People complain that there’s nothing to do.
“This event promises to be a very good night.”
Armstrong said there will be goody bags and giveaways.
