THURSDAY, MAY 10: The Afternoon Tea by the Sea event planned for Saturday has been postponed.

A spokesman for the Fairmont Southampton said today: "Guests can still enjoy afternoon tea at The Jasmine Lounge, and check out our great Mother's Day offerings for Sunday brunch."

WEDNESDAY, MAY 9: A special afternoon tea will be held this weekend at Fairmont Southampton just in time for Mother’s Day.

Ocean Club will host a “Tea by the Sea” on Saturday afternoon featuring a tea-pairing menu.

Shelly Meszoly, regional director of sales and marketing for Fairmont Bermuda, said: “Afternoon tea is not only a Bermuda tradition, but a tradition at Fairmont Hotels and Resorts around the world.

“The opportunity to enjoy a delicious four-course tea pairing while enjoying one of Bermuda’s most beautiful ocean views doesn’t happen too often.”

The tea will be held from 2pm to 5pm on the Ocean Club terrace.

The first course will be chocolate-covered strawberries served with a glass of Veuve Cliquot Champagne Brut.

Guest will be treated to the Fairmont Southampton’s 40th Anniversary Loose Leaf Blend served with an assortment of finger sandwiches for the second course.

The third course will consist of Kyoto Rose Tea with pastries including the hotels own Gosling’s Rum Cake.

Loose Leaf Egyptian Chamomile tea with scones and Devonshire cream will be the final course.

There is also a Special “Little Prince and Princess Tea” menu for diners 12 and under.

In addition, guests are encouraged to demonstrate the spirit of afternoon tea by wearing their favorite hats, which will be assessed by local celebrity judge Sherri Simmons of Magic 102.7’s “The Sherri Simmons Show” for a prize.

The cost is $38 for adults and $23 for children ages five to 12. Children under five are free.

Seventeen per cent gratuities will be added.
