WEDNESDAY, MAY 9: With Mother’s day coming only once a year, it is the day to spoil your mother and make her feel like a queen.
Here are a few ideas on things she might appreciate. Firstly, start the day off with brunch. Not only is it a Bermudian tradition, it’s a time where the family can sit, relax and enjoy spending the day with Mom. Check out our guide to the best places to take Mom to brunch.
But maybe your mom isn’t a big brunch person and prefers to relax by herself. Why not treat her to a day at the spa. Bermuda has no shortage of spas on the island from St George’s all the way to Dockyard.
The spas at the various hotels including Willow Stream at the Fairmont Southampton and La Serena at The Reefs are very popular. The newly revamped Sense Spa at Rosewood Tucker’s Point is also a nice option for mom.
If you choose not to go the hotel route, try Gillian’s on South Shore, Devonshire for amazing treatments and great price points.
Maybe your mom enjoys live entertainment. Why not take her to Love and Laughter at the Fairmont Southampton Princess on Sunday night. The event is being put on by Quality Entertainment and will feature R&B group Jagged Edge along with three international comedians. Tickets are $90 for regular admission and $130 for VIP.
They are available online at www.bermudatix.bm.
If these options don’t sound like things your mom would enjoy, maybe something at home is more her speed.
Why not serve mom breakfast in bed. And because breakfast is probably the easiest meal of the day to cook, it is something almost anyone can pull off.
It could be as simple as store-bought pastry, fruit and coffee or you could make it the traditional Bermudian breakfast of codfish, potato and all the fixings.
And don’t forget a card, whether it is homemade or store bought. Flowers will enhance whatever you decide to do for mom for Mother’s Day. Everyone loves flowers and it shows you care.
Whatever you decide to do for you mom, make sure you treat her like the queen she is. I’m sure she will appreciate your efforts no matter what you decide to do. Happy Mother’s Day.
