THURSDAY, MAY 10: The One Bermuda Alliance will host a family fun day this weekend complete with a chance to dunk an MP or Senator.
One Community, One Bermuda will be held on Saturday at Mullet Bay Park in St George’s from 11am to 6pm.
The event will celebrate the party’s one-year anniversary and raise money for two charities – The St George’s Foundation and Beyond Rugby.
All proceeds will go to charity as it isn’t a fundraiser for the party.
The flyer for the event says: “Come out in support of Bermuda’s charities, have fun and don’t miss the opportunity to learn more about the people behind the OBA.
“Help us get Bermuda back on track, help us get this island working again for you, your family and your community.
“We need your support to make change happen.”
There will be food, entertainment, fun castles, dunking stools, local artists and more.
Organiser Nandi Davis said: “We have been putting on monthly events in the community.
“Because the OBA is celebrating their one year anniversary, we thought it would be fun to do an all out fun day.”
Ms Davis said there will be a barbecue with hot dogs and hamburgers for $2. Drinks will be priced at $1 in an effort to keep costs down.
“The other way to raise money is we’re having games.
“We also have prizes.
“The highlight of the day is going to be the dunking stool.
“Because the MPs, candidates and Senators are going to get dunked, we’re going to see how much people are willing to pay to see them get dunked and how much they are willing to pay to do the dunking.”
PHC Majorettes and St George’s Dancerettes will be performing at the event.
“We want to make sure that people know it’s not politically based,” Ms Davis added.
“It’s just a day to come out and have fun.
“We kept it low cost so people can have fun.”
