FRIDAY, MAY 11: Sweet tooth? French chef Roland Mesnier was on the island last week to talk about his career as a top pastry chef. His illustrious career included many years working for Bermuda’s Princess hotels and a 26 year stretch as a chef at the White House. He was invited to talk at a dinner organized by the charity Alliance Francaise. There are a limited number of signed copies of his latest book — A Sweet World of White House Desserts — along with copies of his previous books, for sale on the island. It includes a dessert he made for former Premier Sir John Swan when he visited the White House. The dessert (the chocolate shell pictured above) is featured on the cover of the autobiographical book.
