THURSDAY, JUNE 21: Here is a sneak peek at what’s to come for the City Fashion Festival, taking place in Hamilton next month.
Lamont Robinson of JaKoMa interviewed a handful of the models and organizers of the citywide festival, taking place from July 2 to July 7.
The main Evolution Fashion Show will be held at City Hall on July 7 from 7:30pm. There is a Hair and Beauty Showcase on Front Street on July 4 plus many more events.
Two Wilhelmina Directors will be in Bermuda to scout models — Paul Nelson, director of the Men’s Division, LA, and Jorge Urena, director of the New Faces Board, New York.
A featured model is Darius Dio, a Bermudian who is signed with Wilhelmina Models and living and working in LA
Here is a round up of the festival:
• Monday, July 2 from 11am until 2pm will be Mannequin Mondays. All participating retailers and salons will have live mannequins modelling in their windows.
• Wednesday, July 4: The Hair & Beauty Showcase at 7:30pm at Harbour Nights. There are 5 salons, participating – Eden, Transformations, Soave, Kafu and TK Hair. The makeup artists are Lush, Parfait and Christopher Vee. There is a special body art painting scene with work by M.A.C., Sniggles, Emmerson’s Artists and Scribbles. The show features 46 models on a 92’ long runway
• Friday, July 6: Participating retailers are hosting Evolution White Friday Sales.
• Saturday, July 7: Evolution Fashion Show is on Saturday, at 7:30pm in front of the City Hall building.
The show is free but Corporation of Hamilton is selling VIP tickets which include great seats, a complimentary cocktail reception, cash bar during intermission and gift bag. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased from City Hall or through the models. There are 23 retailers participating.
All make up will be by M.A.C. and hair by TK Hair, Nadz and Soave. There are more than 100 adult models and 40 child models in the show.
The official After Party, held at Barr’s Bay Park immediately after the show, will be hosted by VIBE 103. Tickets are $20 in advance and sold at City Hall, Mambo, The Edge, Secrets and Toxic Rose.
