WEDNESDAY, MAY 16: Drumline Bermuda is back with local and international marching bands performing this weekend.
Yhoshi Productions presents Feel The Rhythm on Sunday at the National Sports Centre.
Featured local bands include the National Drumline, Sandys Showtime Drumline, PHC Drum Corps and Whitney Drumline.
Overseas performers include Gwynn Park High Schools Marching Yellow Jackets from Maryland and Howard University Showtime Band.
Organiser Sancha Durham said the event will be fun for the whole family.
“Basically, we’re going to have the Bermuda drumlines performing and then we’re going to have the National Drumline performing with the international bands.
“With Gwynn Park, a lot of them didn’t have passports and they did a whole big programme called passports to Bermuda.
‘The (US) government came to the school and issued them passports.
“This is a lot of the students’ first trip.”
Durham said although local bands would be performing, majorettes wouldn’t be accompanying them as they are preparing for the Heritage Day Parade.
Asked why people should come out to support the event, she said: “A lot of times I find that most events are geared to the adults and I think it’s great for us to do a community event.
“You can bring your kids and your grandparents.
“It’s straight across the board a good time for all.”
In addition to the performances, there will be food vendors.
“It’s going to be a great Sunday afternoon”, Durham added.
This year, the drumlines won’t be staying for the May 24th parade due to funding.
General admission tickets are between $35 and $75.
VIP tickets are priced at $125.
Tickets are available at 27th Century, City Hall, Liberty Theatre, Scoops Ice Cream Parlour, Nail Bar and on www.ptix.bm.
Durham said group tickets and children tickets are available by contacting Yhoshi Productions on 202-0282 or by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
