THURSDAY, MAY 17: Reggae artist I-Octane will make his debut performance in Bermuda just in time for May 24.

The Jamaican performer born Byiome Muir is known worldwide for songs including “Lose A Friend”, “Puff It”, “Badmind Fi The Year” and “Study Yuh Friends”.

He will perform at Bailey’s Bay Cricket Club Field next Wednesday night for a pre Bermuda Day reggae show.

I-Octane just came off of a tour in Europe where all of his shows were sold out.

Local artists for the show include Bobby Washington, Corvin Melody, Sista Mandy, Zion and Fajr.

I-Octane took time out of his schedule to answer a few questions for us on his upcoming show.

He arrives in Bermuda on May 22.


Q: What can Bermudians expect from an I-Octane show? 

A: My Bermudian fans can expect a high-energy show, nothing like they've seen before. 

Q: Do you have any favourite songs to perform?

A: Yes, I love to perform My Life, Lose A Friend, No Love Inna Dem just to name a few.

 Q: What are you looking forward to the most in coming to Bermuda?

A: Well I am looking forward to meeting and interacting with the Bermudian people and performing for them.  

Q: Is this your first trip to Bermuda?

A: Yes this is my first time in Bermuda so I will be going all out for the fans.

Q: What would you say to encourage people to come out to the show?

A: You won't be disappointed! I will be giving I-Octane times two.

Q: Any surprises up your sleeve?

A: There is always something new every time I hit the stage. My fans will definitely be getting their money's worth and much more.


Organiser Kori Hinds of Lion Heart Productions said the show is the perfect event to attend the night before the holiday.

“He’s an inspirational artist and he sings about love, peace and happiness, all the good things you have on a holiday.

“He’s the perfect artist to bring the day before the holiday to get the vibe going.”

Hinds continued: “His stage performances are very, very high energy.

“If you want a good performance, he’s the guy to come see.”

Hinds stressed the fact that the show will start early and wrap up by 2am.

I-Octane is expected to be on stage by 1am and an after party will follow in the cricket club.

Local DJs for the show include DJ Sheep, China and Bussy and Black Star Sound.

Lenky Boy will host the event.

Regular admission is $40 in advance and $50 at the gate and can be purchased at Club Minaj in St George’s, Kit n Caboodle or Jamaican Grill at Bay Club.

VIP tickets are $75 and include entry to the after party, food and a separate bar.

 A welcome party for I-Octane will be held at Club Minaj on Tuesday night.
