FRIDAY, JULY 6: The Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Arts is inviting the public to join in celebration of its 25th birthday next weekend.
The museum will host an open house from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, July 14 with tours throughout the day.
For the little ones there will be a detective guide and a treasure hunt around the gallery’s 25th anniversary exhibition A Rock And An Ocean.
The museum is hosting numerous events and exhibitions throughout the anniversary year and the next six months will see summer camps through July and August, with Super Saturdays starting back up in September and the fifth annual Charman Prize in October.
Events that have already taken place include the Queen’s Stamp Exhibition in March, a photographic display in partnership with the US Consul General, and a tribute to John Lennon in partnership with Yoko Ono.
What’s more, Masterworks’ founder and director Tom Butterfield was awarded an MBE from Princess Anne for his contribution to the arts community.
There will be various exhibits by overseas artists as well as the One Stop Shopping Event in November showcasing the works of local artists and crafters.
Tom Butterfield said: “The fact we are celebrating our 25 years is remarkable, and something we are very proud of.
“The museum is a treasure trove of Bermudian history and culture and celebrating on the 14th is something we wish to share with all of Bermuda.”
