Former Premier of Bermuda Dr. the Honourable Ewart F. Brown; J.P. will be inducted into the African Diaspora Heritage Trail Tourism Hall of Fame in Atlanta on April 27, 2013.  Dr. Brown was selected for this honor in recognition of his work to preserve and promote African Heritage sites throughout the world.  Bermuda’s former Premier will join notables such as Bahamas Prime Minister Perry Christie, musical icon Bob Marley, African American scholar, Dr. Molefi Asante and Congressman John Lewis in the ADHT Hall of Fame.

Dr. Brown said, “I am honored and humbled to be inducted into the ADHT Tourism Hall of Fame.  The African Diaspora Heritage Trail plays an important role in reconnecting people of African descent with our history, heritage and culture.  I am proud to have contributed to this noble cause and to this outstanding organization.”

Dr. Ewart Brown has also been nominated as a candidate for ADHT Person of the Year, for his pioneering work in reigniting the flame for the cause of reconnecting Africans throughout the Diaspora with their heritage.

The African Diaspora Heritage Trail Foundation founded in Bermuda under the leadership of the late former Minister of Tourism David Allen in 2002, unites countries affected by migration to and from Africa, beginning with the African slave trade. ADHT partners with the Smithsonian Institution, UNESCO, the Africa Travel Association and the Caribbean Tourism Organization.  Bermuda’s African Heritage Trail is seen as the global standard for efforts in the conservation of black culture and heritage sites and the celebration of the history, customs, and experiences of slaves and their descendants.  Bermuda’s African Heritage Trail been officially designated by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as part of the Slave Route Project.

Dr. the Hon. Ewart F. Brown; J.P. served as Premier of Bermuda from 2006 – 2010.  He is currently the Executive Chairman for Bermuda Healthcare Services and Brown-Darrell Clinic
