MONDAY, DEC. 17: With just an hour before the polls close the last trickle of voters are still arriving at St Anne's Church Hall.

All three candidates Shawn Crockwell, Scott Simmons and Charlie Swan have been here all day.

Mr Crockwell said: "It has been really refreshing to see all the young people down here today.

"There is a sense that something historic is going to happen and people want to be a part of it."

Mr Swan told the Sun: "There has been a fairly steady flow all day and I think we are looking at a 70 per cent turnout."

Mr Simmons added: "What has been great to see is people exercising their right to vote.

"The people of constituency 31 have come out in their numbers and voted."
