Two brothers and a barbershop are giving back to the community by providing free haircuts for boys going back to school.

Wayne and Dwayne Caines have teamed up with Five Star Barbershop to help out parents who need a little assistance in getting their children ready for the new school year.

As a result of the partnership, school-aged boys can go to Five Star Barbershop on Wednesday from 8am to 5pm and get their hair cut with no charge.

In addition, the Caines brothers are collecting donations for school supplies to further help families in need.

Dwayne explained where the idea came from: “I was talking to the owner, Mike Chamberlain and he basically said that he wanted to do something for the community and use the barbershop as the hub.

“I suggested it would be a good opportunity for us to bring the resources to the community based on the need that exists and he was all over it. “

Dwayne said the barbershop will be open until every single boy has had a haircut.

“Our goal is very simple. We recognise there are a lot of people in the community, particularly mothers out there who are looking to get some financial relief.

“The average cost for a haircut is $20 for a boy. If a mother has two sons, that’s $40.”

Dwayne said there will also be food, giveaways and music at the barbershop next Wednesday.

“We are looking to do it every year if the opportunity presents itself,” he added.

In addition to the haircuts, the Caines brothers will also be handing out school supplies including books, pens, pencils and backpacks.

Their goal is to raise $2,000 for these supplies.
