FRIDAY, APRIL 20: A thief siphoned off gas from a boat moored in Hamilton Harbour over the weekend.

The owner of the boat returned to his vessel on Sunday to find it had been drained of gas.

Police said they were not aware of any similar incidents taking place over the weekend.

And they did not reveal how much gas had been stolen from the boat.

A spokesman said: “On Sunday, April 15th, police received a report that a quantity of gas had been stolen from a boat moored in Hamilton Harbour.

“It appears that the theft took place between Friday, April 13th and Sunday, April 15th.”

The spokesman said anyone who sees any suspicious activity on or around vessels should contact the Police Marine Unit on 247-1770.
